About Katie Bond

Kathleen (“Katie”) Bond focuses her practice on advertising and food and drug law. She represents clients with regard to a wide variety of consumer products, including; food, dietary supplements, OTC drugs, personal care products, CBD products, infant formula, cosmetics, sports equipment, appliances, and home genetic testing. Katie provides FDA and FTC regulatory advice with an emphasis on risk analysis. Her advice is grounded in the framework of the law, yet balanced with the needs of each client. She advises clients regarding matters including; efficacy and health benefit claims, “green” marketing, refund and coupon programs, auto renewal programs, “Made in the USA” and other U.S. origin claims, endorsements including by consumers and healthcare professionals, and the use of social media and influencers in marketing.

Katie has substantial experience representing clients in regulatory investigations, having handled numerous complex Federal Trade Commission and State investigations. She draws from years of prior experience to manage discovery and defense strategies with an eye toward overall regulatory risk management. In addition to regulatory investigations, Katie assists clients with consumer class action defense, applying her subject matter expertise to defeat misguided allegations of false advertising. She has represented a major trade group in filing amicus briefs in support of defendants in false advertising class actions in several courts in California, including the Ninth Circuit. Katie also assists clients regularly in initiating and responding to self-regulatory challenges before bodies including the National Advertising Division.
