Lauren Aronson Quoted in “FTC Seeks to Crack Down on Fake Reviews in the Digital Age”
NutraIngredients sought comment from Lauren Aronson on the Federal Trade Commission’s proposed new rule to stop marketers from using fake consumer reviews, suppressing honest reviews, and paying for positive reviews.
Lauren explained that consumer reviews have been under FTC scrutiny for several years and the commission has taken action against companies that encourage employers to post fake reviews and downvote negative reviews. She cited Sunday Riley, Devumi and Fashion Nova. Lauren emphasized that dietary supplement marketers must make sure that they are not engaging in deceptive practices around reviews and went on to say that the FTC’s proposal rule signifies a significant move towards promoting integrity and trust in the dietary supplement industry.
